Animal Agriculture

Ohio Soybeans' #1 Customer

Animal agriculture is soybean farmers’ biggest customer — the meal from nearly 30 million bushels of Ohio soybeans are fed to pigs, chicken, cattle and other livestock and poultry every year. For the Ohio Soybean Council (OSC), that means it’s important to invest in opportunities that will strengthen the long-term stability of the livestock and poultry industries and ensure that soybeans meal is feed to animals for years to come.

OSC works with several industry partners and commodity groups to help support animal agriculture. For more information about how OSC supports animal agriculture, please contact Emilie Regula Hancock at eregula.hancock@soyohio.org.

Restaurants

OSC has partnered with Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken restaurants to help promote the demand for chicken. Every 100 pounds of chicken requires about 46 pounds of soybean meal.

Commodity Groups

OSC has collaborated with the Ohio Pork Council, Ohio Poultry Association, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association and the Ohio Livestock Coalition to help increase demand for Ohio’s chicken, turkey, eggs, beef, dairy and pork.
