Ohio Soybean Association Expresses Disappointment after House’s Failure to Pass 2013 Farm Bill
WORTHINGTON, Ohio-The Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) expressed its disappointment this afternoon after the House of Representatives failed to pass the Federal Agricultural Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013, otherwise known as the farm bill. The vote was 195 to 234 after two days of debate. OSA President Jerry Bambauer, soybean farmer from Auglaize County, released the following statement:
“We are very disappointed by this result. Ohio soybean farmers need a five year farm bill in place to provide certainty for their operations and ensure that safety net programs are in place. As a result of the failure to pass the bill out of the House of Representatives, Ohio’s family farmers have been let down and will not see the benefits this bill would have provided. We ask that both parties find a way to work together immediately on behalf of the 24,000 soybean farmers in Ohio who contribute so much to the economy and food supply for all Americans.”
About the Ohio Soybean Association The Ohio Soybean Association is governed by a volunteer farmer board dedicated to education and promotion, as well as to uniting producer interest through support of legislative activities beneficial to the Ohio soybean industry.
